About Richard Paloma
Author, Brushed Back and The Beach Club
Richard Paloma has been in law enforcement for over 20 years in Northern
California. He has had various assignments including many years as a patrol
officer and six years as a detective in the San Francisco Bay Area. For the last
four years, Richard Paloma has been a police sergeant for a police agency in the
San Joaquin Valley. As an investigator, he received recognition from his
superiors for his investigations into auto thefts, sexual assaults, homicides as
well as other incidents within the city he worked. He has used his training and
experiences for the scenes in both his novels, Brushed Back and The
Beach Club.
“My shift partners and I would joke that we were living the stuff Joseph
Wambaugh would write about,” says Richard Paloma. “After many years I decided to
incorporate some of those stories and write a novel.” In 2003 he finished The
Beach Club and in 2004 Helm Publishing in Illinois picked it up for publication.
In September 2008, Lachesis Publishing of Canada released Rich's second novel,
Brushed Back.
