About Richard Paloma
Author, The Beach Club
Richard Paloma has been in law enforcement for over 17 years in Northern
California. He has had various assignments including many years as a patrol
officer and six years as a detective in the San Francisco Bay Area. For the last
four years, Richard Paloma has been a police sergeant for a police agency in the
San Joaquin Valley. As an investigator, he received recognition from his
superiors for his investigations into auto thefts, sexual assaults, homicides as
well as other incidents within the city he worked. He has used his training and
experiences for the scenes in his latest work, The Beach Club.
“My shift partners and I would joke that we were living the stuff Joseph
Wambaugh would write about,” says Richard Paloma. “After many years I decided to
incorporate some of those stories and write a novel.” In 2003 he finished The
Beach Club and Helm Publishing in Illinois picked it up for publication.
Mr. Paloma is a member of the Police Writers Association, Mystery Writers of
America, Sisters in Crime, and also belongs to
various writers’ groups in California. He has attended many writers’ seminars
and conferences including the La Jolla Writers Conference in San Diego. He has a
Bachelors Degree with honors from St. Mary’s College in Moraga, California.
He currently resides in Tracy, California with his wife Robin and their two
children.
